Health Checks: Every animal is carefully inspected to ensure they’re happy, healthy, and thriving. We check for signs of stress, illness, or discomfort.
Feeding Time: From crickets for our geckos to fresh greens for our tortoises, each animal gets a carefully balanced diet tailored to their needs.
Habitat Maintenance: Cleanliness is key to keeping our animals healthy. We clean enclosures, replace substrate, and ensure the heating and UVB systems are working perfectly.
Midday: Welcoming Customers and Sharing Knowledge
By 9am, our doors are open, and the store starts buzzing with activity. Most of our customers are first-time reptile owners, so we take pride in offering expert advice and guidance.
Setup Consultations: Helping customers create the perfect environment for their new pets is one of our favorite tasks. Whether it’s a vivarium for a bearded dragon or a custom enclosure for a snake, we’re here to help every step of the way.
Animal Encounters: Kids and adults alike love meeting our friendly reptiles. These encounters are not only fun but also a great way to educate people about these fascinating creatures.
Afternoon: Behind-the-Scenes Operations
While the store is bustling, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly:
Inventory Management: Using Shopify, we track stock levels and place orders for supplies and live food. With live food needing weekly replacement, this is a constant task.
Social Media Content: Our team spends time creating engaging posts for Facebook, from showcasing our animals to sharing care tips. It’s all about building a community of reptile lovers.
Special Orders: We handle requests for specific animals or equipment, working hard to fulfill these within 3–5 days.
Evening: Wrapping Up the Day
As the day winds down, we focus on preparing for tomorrow. This includes:
Final Animal Checks: Before we close, we ensure every animal is comfortable and ready to settle down for the night.
Team Debrief: We discuss the day’s highlights, challenges, and any customer feedback. This helps us continuously improve and provide the best service possible.
