These amazing stick insects are ever popular as pets with their unique appearance, decent adult size and ease of care.
Most people feed macleays on bramble as its found in abundance everywhere, but if you're lucky enough to have access to a eucalyptus tree, then this makes a great natural food source and being a tougher leaf, fills the greedy gannets up more!
Macleays Spectre Stick Insects can be conditioned to display the most fantastic lichen mimic colouration. Some lichen forms are green and black, some are black and white. We managed to achieve the amazing lichen form here at Riverview when breeding this species a few years ago. It was most certainly worth the extra effort!
