Nephrurus cinctus, also known as the Northern Banded Knob-tail Gecko, is a fascinating gecko species native to Australia:
Appearance: This gecko is well-known for its striking bands of colour, typically a mix of dark and light shades, which help it blend into its natural environment. Like other knob-tailed geckos, it features a distinctive, short, and bulbous tail.
Habitat: The species is primarily found in arid and semi-arid regions in northern Australia. It often inhabits rocky outcrops and areas with loose soil where it can burrow.
Behavior: Nephrurus cinctus is nocturnal and spends much of the day hiding in burrows or under rocks to avoid the intense heat. At night, it emerges to hunt for prey such as insects and other small invertebrates.
